Louisiana Purchase :
In mid-April 1803, the French offer the United States the Louisiana Territory. Napoleon had no choice but to sell the Louisiana territory in order to solve the different problems France was currently having during that time.
Exiled to St. Helena :
After being stripped from his power on April 1814, Napoleon was exiled to the island of Elba in the Mediterranean. But after 11 months, Napoleon was back on French soil. After being defeated at the Battle of Waterloo, the European Powers decided to exile him to the island of St. Helena, where he was heavily guarded. On May 5, 1821 Napoleon died on the island due to poor health and stomach ulcer.
Napoleonic Code :
The Napoleonic code was a French civil code made on March 21, 1804. Its main influence on the 19th century civil codes of most countries of continental Europe and Latin America.
Death of his father :
Napoleon's father died on 1875, Napoleon heard of this news during his stay at the military academy in Paris. His father died due to a stomach ulcer, after his father's death Napoleon was propelled to take action on becoming the head of the family.
Battle of Arcola :
The Battle of Arcola was during November 15-17 1796. The battle was between the French and Austrian forces and was fought southeast of Verona. The picture shown above is of Napoleon Bonaparte leading his troops over the bridge of Arcola.
Discovery of The Rosetta Stone :
When Napoleon invaded Egypt in 1798, he took along a group of scholars and told them to seize all important cultural artifacts for France. Pierre Bouchard, one of Napoleon's soldiers, was aware of the emperor's orders when he found the basalt stone at a fort near Rosetta. However, when the British defeated Napoleon in 1801, they took ownership of the Rosetta stone.
